Welcome to Cabiria (Cab-e-ria), the rum and red wine soaked, raspy voiced, little sister bar to Peasant. She’s a little bit Rome via Paris, she’s a hazy night out somewhere between Brooklyn and New Orleans and yet she’s right here in Paddington, Brisbane 4000.
From her larder Cabiria will make you some of the coolest classic sandwiches you’ve only read about, like the Rueben, the Cuban and the Harry’s Bar egg sandwich. The best oysters available at the markets are shucked fresh to order, and served alongside sashimi grade fish. She’s sourced a revolving door of charcuterie and cheese from the finest purveyors in the business, and she hand makes pies that will keep you thinking long after you’ve left the premises. And these are only the nibbles. Wait till you see the full menu.
In her cellar room you’ll find over 300 carefully sourced wines from around the planet, many of which are exclusive in Queensland to this little bar. In her liquor cabinet you’ll discover a plethora of hand crafted rum and tequila and some of the quirkiest beers this side of the wrong side of the tracks in town. Much of our booze flows liberally into our prohibition style cocktails. It’s all pretty old world, but it’s all pretty darn great.
And if you decide to sleep over you can have the multi award winning Black Sheep Coffee made by Brisbane’s only barista with a tank driving license, Nate Swindale. If you’ve been good she’ll cook you breakfast and if you’ve been bad she’ll pour you champagne and set you on your way.
